Bichette's not making it was a HUGE surprise to me. BUt at just 1.8 WAR, he wasn't even close. His offensive number were, of course, excellent. His 9.5 oWAR in 7 years was more than adequate to make the team. But he gets hammered with a -7.7 dWAR. I never remembered him being that great in the field, but was he really THAT bad? I didn't think so, but that's how it shook out.
As for Perez, well... actually there was a chance there. I realized as I was looking into this that the inclusion of Kaz Matsui was a mistake: He does not have enough games to qualify at any position. So he's dropped.
Now, Clint Barmes (SS-2B) will stay in his 2B slot, since he's one of only three guys to qualify there anyway. So that leaves an opening at Shortstop.
Perez has 1.1 WAR: 1.2 dWAR, -0.1 oWAR. BUT, the only other guy that qualifies, Juan Uribe, had 2.3: 2.1 dWAR, 0.2 oWAR. (In just three years, to Neifi's six. So he's got him beat with both Glove and Bat, even though Perez was on the team longer.
So, I'm taking Matsui off the team and adding Uribe. Sorry it couldn't be Perez, but thanks for the suggestion that made me look into it!

ReplyDeleteColorado: Where's Dante Bichette? And I would've thought that Neifi Perez would be #2 SS.
